CONCENTRATION: ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY AND ENERGY MANAGEMENT (UPENN ’20)

B.A. Political Science

MINOR: BUSINESS AND JOURNALISM  (TEXAS CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY)

Hayley McCurdy is a first year graduate student in the Masters of Environmental Studies program where she is concentrating on Environmental Sustainability and Energy Management. She holds a B.A in Political Science with minors in Business and Journalism from Texas Christian University.

Hayley’s interests lie at the crossroad of renewable energy and economic growth. The passion behind current studies roots from her year-long work experience in the Dominican Republic where she started a solar lending program at a microfinance institution. She learned that with access to electrification and clean energy financing solutions, small-business entrepreneurs in the Dominican Republic are able to grow their business and shrink their carbon footprint: a strategy that can be used across all cultures and businesses. On a broader scale, she is interested in learning strategies for the incorporation of sustainable business solutions and corporate social responsibility.

As a Graduate Intern for IGEL, Hayley enjoys learning from thought leaders in the world of corporate sustainability. Aside from academics, Hayley loves to backpack, horseback ride, swing dance and ski in her home state of Colorado.
