Air Quality, Energy and Sustainability

John Giordano leads the newly created Air Quality, Energy and Sustainability division. From 2013-2015, he led the Compliance and Enforcement division in its mission to uphold federal and state environmental and natural resource laws and regulations, including those related to water and air pollution; hazardous materials; solid waste; land use; biocides; water, wetland, and wildlife conservation; and environmental management. He was responsible for overall management and direction of the division. John managed day-to-day operations and business services to ensure that resources were optimally deployed in support of the Department’s mission. He developed and implemented enforcement policy and strategy, as well as business processes to overhaul, refocus, and streamline operations. John also oversaw and directed issuance and settlement of legal and administrative enforcement actions. Guided agency-wide initiatives and provided direction on a broad range of cross-program issues.
